In short

Your journal and decisions are used only to run Evenwise. We never sell them, and there are no ads, trackers or analytics tools.
Your entries are sent to OpenAI to create reflections only after you agree, and they are never used to train any model.
Your data is stored on servers we manage ourselves, located in Taiwan.
You can export all your data, or permanently delete your account and everything in it, at any time from the app.

1. Who we are

Evenwise ("we") is a morning and evening journal and decision companion app developed and operated by Aircraft Inc. This policy explains how we handle your personal data when you use the Evenwise app and this website. If you have any questions, email us at yuan.wu@aircraft.tw.

2. What we collect

Account data

Without signing in: we create an anonymous account with only a randomly generated ID. We don't need your name or email.
Sign in with Apple: your Apple account identifier, plus the email (which may be an Apple private relay address) and name you choose to share.
Sign in with Google: your Google account identifier, email, name and profile picture URL.
Email code sign-in: your email address.

What you write

Morning and evening entries: gratitude, intentions, who you want to be, good moments, mood, things you let go of, and so on.
Thoughts you jot down.
Decisions: the question, your feelings, values, options, what you chose and why, and later look-backs.
The values you pick and the lamps you light.

Settings

Your name or nickname, language, time zone, reminder times, whether you agreed to reflections (and when you agreed or withdrew), and in-app preferences.

Reflection records

The reflections, insights and weekly reports Evenwise creates, plus the model used and the length, so you can revisit them, so we can count monthly usage, and so we can estimate costs.

Technical data

Your IP address and device type (browser or app identifier string) when you sign in, kept with your sign-in session for account security and abuse prevention.
Server logs (such as error messages) to keep the service running.

Data that stays on your phone

Reminder schedules, what your home screen widgets show, and your sign-in state (kept in your phone's encrypted storage) stay on your device only.

We do not collect your location, contacts, photos or health data, and the app contains no ads, trackers or third-party analytics.

3. How we use it

To run the app: saving and syncing your entries, decisions and settings.
To create reflections, decision help, look-back analyses and weekly reports, after you agree.
To send sign-in codes.
To keep accounts secure, prevent abuse and fix problems.

We don't use your data for advertising, we don't sell it, and we don't build marketing profiles.

4. Who we share it with

We use the following third-party services, only as needed to provide Evenwise:

About OpenAI: we ask OpenAI not to store conversations on its platform. Under OpenAI's API terms, data sent through the API is not used to train models, though OpenAI may keep it for up to 30 days to detect abuse before deleting it. You can turn reflections off anytime in the Me tab; after that, nothing is sent.

If content that may relate to self-harm is detected, the app only shows support resources at that moment. We keep no record of the detection.

Beyond the above, we share data only when required by law, such as a court order.

5. Storage and security

Your data is stored on servers we manage, located in Taiwan. All connections use HTTPS.
The database is not exposed to the internet; only our backend can reach it, and each person can only read and change their own data.
The database is backed up daily, and backups are kept for 14 days.

6. How long we keep it

We keep your data until you delete your account, so you can always look back.
When you delete your account, it and everything in it are removed from the database immediately; copies in backups are cleared automatically within 14 days.
Anonymous accounts are tied to your device. If you delete the app or switch phones without first connecting Apple, Google or email, we can't recover your data.

7. Your rights

Under Taiwan's Personal Data Protection Act and the laws where you live, you can:

Access and export: export all your data from the Me tab.
Correct: edit your entries and settings in the app.
Delete: permanently delete your account and all data from the Me tab. For Apple sign-in accounts, we also revoke Evenwise's access to your Apple ID.
Withdraw consent: turn off reflections in the Me tab at any time.
Anything else: email yuan.wu@aircraft.tw. We'll reply within 30 days.

8. Children

Evenwise is not designed for children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their personal data. If you believe a child has given us data, contact us and we'll delete it.

9. Not medical care

Evenwise is a self-reflection tool, not therapy or medical care, and its reflections are not professional advice. If you are in crisis, call your local emergency number. In Taiwan, call 1925 (mental health hotline) or 1995 (Lifeline).

10. This website

This website uses no cookies, trackers or analytics. Our server may log IP addresses and access times, only to keep the site secure and running.

11. Changes

If we make important changes, we'll update the effective date at the top of this page, and let you know in the app when needed.
